Fence Installation in Tobaccoville, NC
Tobaccoville earned its name honestly, and the landscape still reads that way. This is the rural northwest corner of Forsyth County, where NC 66 runs up toward the Stokes line past fields, woodlots, and houses on several acres apiece, with a large manufacturing plant sitting in the middle of it as a reminder of what built the area. The fencing follows the land. Very little of what we install here is a neat rectangle between two houses.
Most calls fall into one of three shapes. Somebody wants a working fence for pasture or livestock. Somebody wants a defined yard carved out of a much larger property. Or somebody wants a driveway gate and a visible boundary along the road frontage. Occasionally it is all three on the same parcel, and in that case the order matters, because where the driveway gate lands often determines where the rest of the line makes sense.
Building on open ground
Open acreage does two things to a fence. It exposes the run to wind that has nothing to break it, and it usually means longer distances between anything solid to tie into. Both are solved at the corners. Corner and brace posts carry the load on a long run, and if they are undersized or set shallow, the fence sags no matter how good the wire or boards are. Piedmont clay makes that worse, holding water against a footing and heaving as it swells and dries through the year. Every post we set goes into concrete, deep, with corners and gate posts sized heavier than the line posts.
Materials for rural property
Farm fence covers the pasture work, in board, woven wire, or a combination depending on the animals. Wood handles the yard fencing and the road-frontage runs, with a HeartWood finish available if you want the look of stained wood without repeating the job every other year. Vinyl is the maintenance-free option for a privacy yard near the house, using PrivacyLock panels that hold their line over long runs. If you want the boundary marked without blocking the view, we can do that too.
Call (336) 646-7288 any hour. We answer 24 hours a day, seven days a week, we come measure at no charge, and we will quote the pasture line and the yard separately if that is easier to plan around.

Tobaccoville Fence Questions
Can you fence pasture, not just a backyard?
Yes. Board fence, woven wire, and combinations of the two are regular work for us, along with cross-fencing to split a field and gates sized for a tractor rather than a lawn mower. Tell us what is going to be inside it, because horses, cattle, and goats each argue for a different height, spacing, and wire choice.
How do you keep a long run straight over uneven ground?
We set the line first and build to it. On a long pasture run that means pulling a string over the full distance, setting corner and brace posts before anything else, and letting the line posts follow. Ground that rolls gets followed rather than fought. The failure you want to avoid is a run that looks fine at both ends and wanders in the middle, and that comes from setting posts one at a time without a reference.
What kind of driveway gate can I get?
Anything from a simple swing gate you open by hand to a wide double gate on heavy posts. The two things that decide the design are how wide the opening needs to be for the largest vehicle that will use it, and whether the driveway rises or falls at the gate, because a gate that swings uphill has to be hung differently. We work that out on site.
Is it worth putting a privacy fence around the house on a big property?
Frequently, yes. Enclosing the whole parcel is expensive and rarely useful, while a defined yard near the house gives you a dog area, a place kids stay put, and a visual break, for a fraction of the footage. Plenty of properties out here end up with both, a wood or vinyl privacy yard near the house and a farm fence line marking the boundary.
