Randleman Fence Installation

The Deep River made Randleman. The mills that lined it are gone, but the town they built is still here, tucked between US 220 and the water, with a Main Street that has kept its shape and neighborhoods that were laid out for people walking to work. Just north of town, Level Cross is where the Petty family built the most recognized name in stock car racing, and the museum still brings people down the road who had never heard of Randleman otherwise.

Fencing here splits along the same line the geography does. In town, the lots are modest and the work is mostly six-foot privacy fence, picket, or replacing something that has been leaning since the last ice storm. Out past the town limits, toward Level Cross, Sophia and the Randleman Lake watershed, the parcels get big and the conversation turns to boundary runs, pasture, and gates a tractor can clear.

Building on Randolph County ground

The soil here is the same slow-draining red clay found across the county, and it behaves badly for fence posts. Water sits in it, the clay swells, and then a hard freeze lifts anything that was not set deep enough. Every post we install goes into concrete below the disturbed layer, whether it is carrying a privacy panel in town or a line of split rail across a hayfield. Properties that fall away toward the river or a creek bottom get extra attention on drainage, because a fence line that crosses a wet swale needs the posts placed with that in mind rather than at even spacing off a tape measure.

For material, pressure-treated pine with StayStrong pickets is still the workhorse for privacy fence around here. Vinyl with PrivacyLock interlocking panels costs more up front and gives back every hour you would have spent sealing wood, and the SolarShield coating keeps it from chalking. On the farm side we install split rail, post-and-rail and woven wire, in wood or vinyl, and mesh-backed rail where horses are involved.
