Fence Installation in Ramseur, NC
The Deep River is why Ramseur exists. The mill went in on the water, the town grew around it, and the street pattern still shows it, with older homes on compact lots stepping back from the river and Main Street holding the middle. The mill era ended, but the town did not, and Ramseur Lake and the river corridor still shape how property here is laid out.
Fence work in town tends to be replacement work. A lot of what stands in Ramseur back yards has been up a long time, and the calls we get are about a run that has started leaning, a gate that no longer latches, or a boundary that needs redoing after a tree came down on it. Out along NC 22 and NC 49 the picture changes to acreage: pasture, hay ground, boundary lines that run for hundreds of feet, and driveway gates.
Setting posts in eastern Randolph ground
The clay here does what it does everywhere in the county, which is hold water and move. Near the river bottoms it stays wetter longer, and that is where a poorly set post gives up first. We footer every post in concrete below the disturbed layer, and on the low ground we pay attention to where water actually runs during a hard rain rather than assuming it follows the property line. Summer storms come through this part of the Piedmont with real force, and the remnants of tropical systems can saturate this ground for days at a time.
For material, treated pine with StayStrong pickets is the common choice for privacy fence and it suits the character of the older streets. Vinyl with PrivacyLock panels is there if you would rather never seal anything again. On the farm side we install split rail, post-and-rail and woven wire, with mesh-backed rail where horses are involved, and chain link where the job is containment rather than appearance.

Ramseur Fence Questions
Our house is one of the old mill houses. Is fencing one of those any different?
Usually yes. The lots were platted narrow and deep, the yards are often not square to the street, and there is frequently an old fence line or a shared property boundary that has drifted from where the deed puts it. We shoot the line off your pins rather than off the neighbor's fence, and we will show you the difference before we build if the two do not agree.
The back of our property drops toward the river. Can you fence a slope like that?
We do it regularly along the Deep River. The choice is racking the panels so they follow the grade continuously, or stepping them down in stages with level sections and a gap under each step. Racking looks better on a steady slope, stepping looks better on a sharp drop. We will walk it with you and tell you which one your ground calls for.
Do you install chain link for a dog run or a garden?
Yes. Chain link is still the most cost-effective way to enclose a working area, and galvanized or black vinyl-coated both hold up well in this climate. Black coated tends to visually disappear against a tree line, which matters when the fence is in view of the house. We size the gate to whatever has to get in and out, mower included.
How far out from Greensboro do you actually come?
Ramseur is well inside our normal working area. Eastern Randolph County is regular territory for our crews, and we schedule estimates here without a travel surcharge. The phone is answered 24 hours a day if you want to set something up outside of business hours.
