Fence Installation in Walkertown, NC
Walkertown is a small town with a highway running through it, and both facts show up in the fence work. US 311 carries a lot of traffic past a lot of front yards, and a good share of what we install here exists to put something solid between a house and that noise, or between a backyard and headlights at night. The rest is ordinary small-town fencing: dogs, kids, pools, and property lines that have needed marking for years.
The housing stock is a mix. Older homes on generous in-town lots around Main Street and Old Hollow Road, farmland that has been sold off and built on in pieces, and newer construction filling the gaps. That variety means we quote a lot of different things in the same week. A vinyl privacy line for a new build. A chain link dog run behind a house from the sixties. A replacement for a wood fence that a previous owner set in dirt and that has been leaning since.
The posts are where fences fail
That leaning fence is worth explaining, because it is the most common thing we are called to replace in this part of the county. Forsyth County red clay holds water rather than draining it, and it swells and shrinks with the seasons. A post that was tamped into soil instead of set in concrete gets worked a little further out of plumb with every cycle, and after a few humid summers and a winter that put ice on the top rail, the run has a visible lean. Our posts go into concrete, set deep, on every job, residential or otherwise. It is the difference between a fence you forget about and one you fight.
What goes up here
Wood privacy is the most requested, in standard privacy or board-on-board where the fence needs to look finished from the road side as well as the yard side. Vinyl costs more up front and then asks nothing of you, which is why it keeps winning in the newer neighborhoods. Chain link, galvanized or black vinyl-coated, is still the right answer for a dog yard, a back property line, or anywhere the job is containment rather than appearance.

Walkertown Fence Questions
Will a fence actually cut down road noise from 311?
It helps more than people expect, but be honest about what it does. A solid six-foot privacy fence blocks line of sight and knocks down the sharp edge of traffic noise at ground level. It does not soundproof a yard. Height and solidity are what matter, so board-on-board or vinyl privacy will do more than a picket or chain link ever will.
What is the cheapest fence that will hold a dog?
Chain link, and it is not close. Galvanized is the least expensive and black vinyl-coated costs a little more and looks considerably better against a treeline or a hedge. Either one contains a dog reliably as long as we size the gauge and height to the dog you actually have. A determined digger needs the bottom addressed, which we can do at install.
How long does an install take?
Most Walkertown residential yards are a one to two day build once we are on site, plus the concrete cure time before gates get hung and hardware gets final adjustment. Lead time before that depends on material and season. Spring is the busiest stretch of the year in the Triad, so if you want a fence by a specific date, getting on the schedule early is the whole trick.
Can you take out the old fence?
Yes. Removal and haul-off is a line item on the quote, and it includes pulling the old posts and their footings rather than snapping the posts at grade and building around the stumps. Old chain link and rotted wood both come out. If the existing line is where you want the new fence, that matters, because a leftover footing is exactly where the new post needs to go.
