Fence Installation in Germanton, NC
Germanton is an old place. It was the first seat of Stokes County before the courthouse moved to Danbury in the middle of the nineteenth century, and today it is a crossroads community sitting on the line between Stokes and Forsyth, with a winery, farm ground, and an increasing number of houses whose owners drive into Winston-Salem for work.
That last part is what makes the fence conversations here interesting. On the same road you will find a family that needs pasture wire and an equipment gate, and a family that wants a clean vinyl privacy fence behind a newer house and never wants to think about it again. Both are normal work. The material and the build are just different.
For the residential side, vinyl in a PrivacyLock configuration is the common request, because the rails and pickets interlock rather than depending on the panel to hold itself together when a storm comes across open ground. For anyone who wants wood, StayStrong pickets are what keeps boards from cupping through a humid summer, and a HeartWood finish gives the grain and color of stained cedar without an annual project attached.
On the agricultural side it is woven field wire on braced corners, mesh-backed rail wherever horses are kept, and split rail to mark a drive without closing off a view of the ridge. Gates get sized for the largest implement that will ever pass through, not the truck.
The ground under all of it is red Piedmont clay. It holds water rather than draining it, and every winter freeze after a wet week lifts a post that was tamped in dirt. Concrete footings below the frost line are standard on every fence we build, residential or agricultural. Call (336) 646-7288, answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and we will come out and price it on site for free.

Germanton Fence Questions
We are right on the county line. Does it matter which county we are in?
It can, because the rules that apply to a fence are set at the county and municipal level, not the state level, and Stokes and Forsyth are not obliged to agree. Find out which one your parcel is actually in before you plan anything, and call that county's planning office rather than assuming. We build to whatever applies, but we are not going to guess which side of the line you are on.
Is vinyl actually worth it over wood?
It depends on what you want from the next fifteen years. Wood costs less to put in and asks for cleaning and refinishing to keep looking right. Vinyl costs more up front and then asks for a hose. Neither one is the correct answer for everybody. What we will not do is pretend vinyl is free of trade-offs, and if you want the look of wood without the upkeep, HeartWood is the middle path worth looking at.
Can you fence an event or tasting property, not just a house?
Yes. The requirements are different and worth talking through in person: defining a boundary without walling off a view, controlling where people can and cannot walk, gates wide enough for a delivery vehicle and narrow enough to manage, and a material that still looks presentable after a busy season. That is a different conversation from a back yard and we would rather have it on site.
What keeps a wood fence from warping?
Mostly the picket. Boards cup and twist when the material is thin, wet on one side and baked on the other, which is exactly what a Piedmont summer does. StayStrong pickets are shaped to resist that, and the other half is post spacing and a properly attached rail so nothing is left to flex on its own.
